What is a Gemini Watermark?
Every image generated by Google Gemini includes a small four-pointed star icon (✦) in the bottom-right corner — a semi-transparent overlay added automatically to all AI-generated outputs.
Why does it appear?
- check_circleGoogle adds it to all Gemini-generated images for AI disclosure.
- check_circleIt signals the image was created by an AI system, not a human photographer.
- check_circleAs AI-generated images become indistinguishable from photos, visible marks help maintain transparency online.
Gemini Watermark vs SynthID
Gemini uses two types of watermarking — only one is visible:
check_circle
Visible star (✦)
Semi-transparent icon in the bottom-right corner. Can be removed with Lumina Watermark.

SynthID
Imperceptible watermark embedded directly in pixel data. Cannot be detected or removed by any visual tool.
Can it be removed?
Yes — the visible star watermark can be removed instantly using our free tool. The algorithm uses reverse alpha-blending to reconstruct the original pixels beneath the mark, with no quality loss to the rest of the image.
